I started massage therapy because of my frequent headaches,
which was my main focus. Not only have my headaches decreased
tremendously, but in addition, massage therapy has improved my
general health and well being. Richard is very professional and knowledgeable
in his field!

You
never really know what to expect from any service, you go and
you hope for the best. This place has exceeded my expectations.
I was a terrible teeth grinder and through the years this has
added stress through the head, neck, eye and ear muscles. I use
to have a crackling feeling in the back of my head from being
out of balance. Rick has worked on each of these areas and I
feel wonderful. No more crackling! I feel so much more balanced.
Once you realize how good you can feel, there is no looking bad.
I go to this Clinic every 3 weeks as part of my healthy life
style.

I've had back problems since I was in high school. I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in my twenties, and was operated on for a herniated disc in 1992. I felt that whatever I had a year after surgery was what I would learn to live with. I had given up on expecting improvements.
I noticed improvement after my first treatment. Headaches, which I thought were a part of my daily routine, disappeared. My back feels better now than it has in years!

I had residual pain from knee surgery, along with neck, shoulder, and back pain. I could not sleep, and was in
alot of pain. I had muscle spasms so bad that I could not stand or sit for long periods of time. I noticed improvement immediately! I can now walk without limping, I have no more headaches, and I have less pain. The tingling and numbness are gone, and so are the muscle spasms.

Two words can
describe Richard D. Russ, a “MAGIC MAN!”
I had been suffering from migraines for about a week, and I
thought maybe a massage would help me. I was very surprised when
I sat down to talk with Rich and he explained everything he
would be doing, and actually making my posture a lot better.
See, I had broken a lot of bones and my posture was not exactly
the best.
During my first massage, Rich went over the parts of my neck
I never knew had problems. He knew exactly where the parts on my
neck hurt. He amazed me! The week after my first massage I had
zero headaches and my moods were a lot better. I felt wonderful.
I started walking more, and eating better.
Every time I go to see Rich I not only get a great massage,
he also teaches me. I learn more about the human body and ways
to treat it better every appointment. He really is a “MAGIC
MAN!”
Thank you Rich!

Dr. Lou D'Amico, of
Chippewa Chiropractic Clinic recommended that I visit Rick Russ
for deep tissue massage for problems with my TMJ. I started 6
weeks ago and what an experience it has been. Rick said I would
have some discomfort at first, and that I would have to do some
stretches 3 times a day. I finished up 6 treatment yesterday, I
expected good results, but was amazed just how good it has
been. I was having headaches, earaches, eye pressure, and
dizziness, some pain in my neck and shoulders. All of my muscles
connected with the TMJ. I am so pleased to say that most of my
pain is a thing of the past! Needless to say we have set up a
schedule to continue on expecting even better results. With my
massage, Chiropractic adjustments, and stretching, who knows how
much better I will feel! But I am looking forward to all!

I was referred to
Rick Russ by Dr. Lou D'Amico of Chippewa Chiropractic Clinic for
further therapy on a frozen shoulder. I enjoyed an increase in
my range of motion after the first session, and continue to see
improvement after every visit. I have total confidence that with
continued therapy and compliance with the exercises I was given
that the condition will resolve 100% in time. Not only is Mr.
Russ a total professional, but he is extremely knowledgeable in
his field and makes sure I have a full understanding of what a
frozen shoulder should involve, and what to expect from
treatment. My family Dr. wanted me to take Celebrex for this
condition. I would rather resolve the problem itself than just
mask the pain. Rick Russ is seeing that becomes a reality for
me. He came HIGHLY recommended by Dr. D'Amico and I can see why!

I
came to Russ on a recommendation
from a close friend who also happens to have spent her life in
the medical profession - from nursing to hospice to becoming
herself a licensed masseuse.
Russ however, I was told, helped her through a personal
challenge and would be in her estimation the best person for my
chronically aching "pain in the neck! Not only was she
right - after only ONE session with Russ - my neck felt
amazingly better! Plus - because of the time he spent showing me
what I could do on my own to prevent a recurrence combined with
the written exercise handbook he gave me - that problem with my
neck has healed to the point of complete recovery!
MANY THANKS TO YOU RICK! That was the easiest "PAIN IN THE
NECK" I ever got rid of!

I lived with neck and shoulder pain for the last nineteen years.
I tried every available treatment that I knew of without
significant relief. When I came to Rick I had noticeable
improvement after the first visit. Rick reached the areas where
the source of the problems were.
With periodic massage and a series of stretching and
strengthening exercises I've achieved lasting relief.

I have been a hairdresser for over 13 years and because of
repetitive motion was in almost constant pain with my shoulders and
neck. I
had gone to doctors who prescribed muscle relaxers and pain pills ...all
of which did not agree with my body or mind. I was
only pain free "IF" I took them! I also had
tried several different people for massage in the city of Pittsburgh...still no relief.
Finally through a local chiropractor, I was referred to Richard. Initially I went once a week ..then every other week, and
now once a month and it has made such a huge difference. I not only am pain free...YEAH...but feel more
relaxed than in decades, and it is such a natural approach!
There are people who are ok at what they do...people who are
good at what they do..., and people gifted at what they do. Richard is
truly gifted at what he does! My massage is not a treat...it is
necessary!

I started going to Rick in the fall
of 2007 for problems related to a herniated disc. I wanted to
avoid surgery at all costs. I did not want to go to a salon and
have a massage performed by a hair stylist. I am happy to say I
had immediate relief and was very satisfied. Rick is very
knowledgeable when it comes to the human body and how it works.
I feel like I receive an education every time I go. I do the
stretching exercises Rick provided me with and it truly has made
a difference.

It all started when a car, that struck me from behind, about 2
months ago. I had been holding on to my 1/2 hour gift certificate and thought this would be a great time to put
it to use. Well, I'm glad that I did!
I have had the pleasure of having Rick, Derek, Greg, &
Nathan all work on me for different reasons, and have had
nothing but great result!.
Their professionalism is outstanding. I have been going to
Derek regularly and found he knows his muscles and mine. He has
helped me many times, and always is very considerate and
thoughtful to my needs. I have learned alot from him, and I hope
with the continuation of me going back, his treatments will help
improve my back and neck problems.
I have seen results already and I advise anyone with a
muscular problem to find your way to the clinic and start
feeling great!! Russ Medical and Sport Massage Clinic ROCKS!

I’ve been known to drive from the eastern
panhandle of West Virginia to Beaver, Pennsylvania just for a
massage, (two-hundred and ten miles each way!) But not just any
massage…
Ten years ago I had my first Swedish
massage and enjoyed a massage once or twice a year. Five years
ago, while visiting my family in Beaver, I made an appointment
with my sister Carol’s massage therapist, Richard Russ. He was
bright, cheerful, and very professional. As my massage
progressed he began explaining why my back hurt and why
my neck was stiff. One hour later not only was my back and neck
pain gone but I had learned techniques and stretching exercises
to help me keep my body in better alignment.
Richard Russ is a Certified Medical Massage
Therapist who works hard, (while making me laugh), to massage,
stretch the body, and to educate his patients to get us
functioning again… which is why I continue to drive four
hundred and twenty miles for a massage!

During the time my husband and I were busy building our home, I
experienced numbness and pain in my back, arms and legs. I also
spent many hours sitting at work, working on a computer which
didn't help the situation. I scheduled an appointment with Rick
Russ and I'm so glad that I did. Before treatment, Rick
conducted a thorough evaluation and listened to my complaints.
Before proceeding, he took the time to explain what my body was
trying to tell me. Certain muscle groups were overworked and out
of sync. My attempts to alleviate the problem by taking pain
relievers or using heating pads were temporary, extremely
short-term solutions. Following my initial treatment, Rick
provided me with printed material that included comprehensive
information and instructions regarding strengthening and
stretching exercises that would help me heal. Rest assured that
a visit to Rick is much, much better than going to a
"massage therapist" at a spa. In fact, there is no
comparison. It is a relaxing experience for certain, but know
that if you are having aches, numbness or other signs that your
muscles or joints are in trouble, working with Rick is a must.
The numbness in my back, arms and legs are gone (and thankfully,
our home is finished), and I still spend hours at a computer so
I schedule an appointment with Rick every now and again. He is
an experienced professional. We're lucky to have someone of his
caliber in our County.

I
have been using R. Russ's massage services for over 5 years now.
I live an active lifestyle. I gym it at least 3 x's a week, I
bike the area trails weekly during the season, I am an avid
gardener, my avocation is showing and judging dogs, and my
vocation is standing all day at my job.
At 52 years of age and a lower back surgery to boot(!) I
wouldn't be able to do it all without the professional services
that Russ Medical provides to me.
I have used a lot of therapists and modalities over the years,
but one thing never changes... my regular visits to Russ
Medical.

I've
lost track of the years Rick has been doing my massage. I
started with him way back when he was with Caton Chiropractic.
His massage helped me through a major back problem even more
than the chiropractic treatments themselves seemed to do. I even
searched him out when he left that and went into home massage.
I'm still going to him. He knows my every muscle and how to fix
the abuse I put them through as an Emergency Department nurse
and with all the hiking and bike riding I do.
None of this would have been possible without his massage
treatments. My monthly massage is not a luxury, but instead a
necessity. I would never change to another therapist. Rick's the
Best there is.
He has a very professional caring attitude and a clean and
professional office.
Thanks Rick for allowing me to live a very active life at 57
years of age!

Below is a picture of Dave's implant. |

|
|
Several years ago while
cleaning roof gutters, a tree branch broke above me and swept me
off the roof. The fall of forty feet resulted in a crushed
vertebra. The only option was to harvest bone from the pelvis
(ileum crest) and graft the pedicels above and below the damaged
vertebra with the harvested bone. To hold things in place while
the bone graft healed, an "internal cast" consisting
of two stainless steel bars, six screws and three turnbuckles
were attached to my spine. This was supposed to be a permanent
implant. See photo below.
The surgery was extensive and required moving the two large
muscles (latissimus dorsi) and others aside while the hardware
was attached to the bone.
Two years later I had managed to loosen the hardware due to an
active life style. Back to surgery to remove the hardware!
Both surgeries resulted in scar tissue forming within the muscle
group affected. This scar tissue impedes the flow of blood
through the small capillary vessels providing nourishment to one
of the largest muscle groups in the body. This results in
muscular back pain, given my active life style. You have no
doubt experienced similar symptoms if you "over did
it" working out, shoveling snow, moving furniture or just a
laborious day at work. I own and operate a 150-acre farm
in Beaver County. I am no stranger to physical activity.
Providing increased blood flow to the lower back was the key.
That's where Richard comes to the rescue.
Deep tissue massage restores the blood flow to the muscles
resulting in no back pain for a period of three weeks. The scar
tissue will never go away. Deep tissue massage on a tri-weekly
basis maintains the blood flow resulting in no lower back pain.

I have been going to Richard Russ
for approximately 8 to 10 years now. I had a bad experience with
lower back issues and other muscular pains stemming from this
issue. I decided to have an assessment and have been going back
ever since. Mr. Russ is by far the best at his job! He has the
ability to heal and work through any muscular issue that one may
encounter. I am currently still seeing him for more of a
maintenance session and at the same time do not have any lower
back issues! Richard Russ is truly the best in the business as
far as I am concerned!

I
would like to comment on the treatment I had received from Rick.
I was in severe pain due to a work related accident. Having gone
to Rick for several visits. I am now able to move somewhat
better. I believe if it had not been for Rick I probably would
be in a wheelchair by now. I recommend Rick to everyone I know.
The treatment and concern Rick has is unbelievable. He has got
to be the most compassionate person I have ever met. Wishing you
much Success Rick.

Professional
& Determined to Relieve your Pain
I have a particularly troublesome series of injuries
involving the piriformis, hamstring and groin muscles. I have
tried everything to get relief, but the injuries and pain just
kept returning when I would start exercising. I have been
undergoing therapy with Russ Medical once a week for six months
now and my range of motion has improved, the pain levels are
decreasing, and I am now returning to weight training. Both Rick
and Derek have worked on me and I am very impressed with their
level of professionalism and their knowledge of the muscles and
tendons in our bodies. If you have a nagging injury involving
muscle or tendon pain, I would highly recommend the orthopedic
massage therapy with any therapist at Russ Medical.

Thank you Rick! Over the past one and one-half years we have
discovered deficiencies in my legs, knees, and arms. We have
corrected the alignment of the muscles of my limbs and reduced
the numbness. The stretches that you perform on my body allows
me greater flexibility, and has definitely helped my golf game.
It also enables me to work right along with the younger men in
my electrical company. I have noticed a great reduction of joint
pain, especially while water and snow skiing.
I have been to many massage therapists, the
attention that you give to the entire body, to keep it in
balance and working properly is so much more.
Again, I thank you for all of the help toward
improving my well being and helping with stress
control!

Though I am in my late 30's, I try to find time to exercise
every day.
Whether it¹s running, basketball or tennis, I've always been
able to
maintain a healthy fitness level with only minor problems.
Recently,
however, I was hit with two of the big ones: plantar
fasciitis (chronic
heel and arch pain) and runner¹s knee (jagged knee cartilage
and mistracking knee caps). After researching my overuse
injuries on the internet, which left me with more questions than
answers, I made a few trips to Russ Medical and Sport Massage
Clinic. Rich immediately diagnosed my problems and administered
first-class treatment. As a result of his encyclopedic
knowledge of how the body works and his willingness to educate
his clients, I was soon back on the road to recovery.
As a high school teacher and tennis coach in the area, I would
enthusiastically recommend Russ Medical and Sport Massage Clinic
to my "aging" friends as well as my younger athletes.
Rich is accommodating, personable, and energetic. He is
truly the best in the area!

Great for Runners!
I decided to try sports massage as a last resort after tearing a
muscle in my lower leg. Numerous visits to orthopedic doctors
and physical therapists did not provide much insight on how to
recover from such an injury. My first visit to Russ Medical
proved to be a great choice - it was clear that every staff
member was extremely knowledgeable. Every therapist I have
worked with listens carefully and provides great information on
how to fix issues. It is clear to me that Rick runs his business
the right way. Thanks to him and his staff, I have been able to
run pain free again.

Richard has helped me tremendously! November of 2008, I walked into this massage clinic, located in Beaver, Pa., My knee was in terrible pain, because I had a torn ligament, walking with a cane, sliding down my stairs on my butt. On a scale of 1 to 10, the pain was beyond a 10. After the professional massage that Richard did on my knee, seeing him a few times a week. My pain in my knee was beginning to ease up. The orthopedic said that with a torn ligament the kind that I had they would usually go in to repair the tear. My thanks to this great professional man that helped so very much. I'm sure that if I hadn't gone to him I would have had to have the surgery. I am doing great now thanks to Richard! On a scale of 1 to 10, I would definitely say I am at a
1, and with continued therapy, I will be at a 0. Thank you so much Richard. Your number 1 at what you do. I would recommend this clinic to
anyone.

After a recent fall on the ice I had
sustained an injury to my leg and was in great pain. I had
sought treatment from Russ Medical Sport Clinic and after my
very first treatment I felt great relief from my pain. I had
been so impressed by the professional treatment that I had
recommended the clinic to my dear friend who had been suffering
from an injury that was completely different from mine, and she
also is very impressed with the results from the treatments that
she received. The clinic is very friendly and has a spiritual
environment. It is so nice to have the Russ Medical Sports
Clinic so close to home without having to travel miles away.
Praise God to have directed me to this great
